Contracts have been awarded for the creation of the now C.P.R. Hotel in Vancouver, which entail before it is completed in its entirety, an oxpendituro. of throe million dollars. The work is complicated by the fact that the hotel will be erected on the site : of the proson building, the business of which will be car- rind on throughout the operations." The old building will be undor pinned, and the excavations for Lo foundations as woll ns the foundations themselves, will be comploted before the actual work Havre and Hamburg, &c. of demolition of the superstruc-Havre, Bremen and Hamburg, <ture is commenced. As soon as larseillos, &c., vin Suez Canal the foundations are finishel, the Marseillos, llarce and Hamburg, &c. construction of the wing next to Triosto, Fiumo, Vonice via Singapore, ike. Opera Houso Lane will be rushed. This will bo used in conjunction with the old building for hotel business. and is on as tho ground flour of the main wing is finished, it will bo coyorod with a temporary roof and used. Freight Rates on Japan Tea. The question of the Pacific Troight rates on tea, which has boon ponding for a long time, las now onded by the Japaneso ship ping companies withdrawing from tho Comforence, so far as this part of the carrying trude is com corned.
