Bangkok, September 27-The Siam Steam Navigation Co., Ltd., has completed a quarter of a cen- tury's very successful trading in Siamese waters. It is estimated that the company's yearly trans- port reaches not far snort of 200,000 tons of cargo and between 35,000 and 40,000 passengers. Its history as a Siamesa company dates from 1908 but the coastal trade was inaugurated by Mr. H. N. Andersen, the founder of the East Asiatic Co.. Ltd. "almost a decade earlier.

Some of the ships of twenty-five and more years are still in com- mission, a tribute to their builders and designers. Some of the officers also have been with the company since its inception. This applies to one director at least, and the superintendent engineer to the fleet-due to retire before Christ- mas-Singapore Free Press.
