Depression
-Can Be Prevented
Syracuse, New York,
August 1. An American depression can be prevented, Governor Thomas E. Dewey, of New York, anid today in an address to the annual con- vention of the New York State Federation of Labour.
"There is still time to repair the mistakes which a short- sighted national administration,
has made," he added.
It was the second time in five days that Mr. Dewey had criticis- ed the national administration. Last Thursday, in a speech at Colgate University's foreign policy conference, he called for immediate American aid to replace the "no policy at all" attitude concerning Nationalist Chinu,
Mr. Dewey did not elaborate today on the alleged mistakes in national economie policy. But he said that a special "Watch Dog Committed", which he had pointed recently, had been direct- ed to exercise a constant vigi- laner over economic and business
