Owing to the fluid nature of the silt over the site of the works considerable settlement took place during construction and it was considered necessary to suspend operations to allow the silt time to consolidate before completing the structures. There was evidence that consolidation had not ceased by the end of the year!

133. Construction of Yard for Storage of Sand at Praya East:- A contract for this work was let to Messrs. Woo Hing in April and was completed satisfactorily in July. Twenty-two concrete bins with a total storage capacity for sand of approximately 600 cubic yards were constructed and an office and watchman's quarters were erected.

A continuation of permanent nullah training was carried out in the Mount Parker area at Quarry Bay and at Kowloon Tong. Further resumption of agricultural lots in the Little Hong Kong area were effected.

Excellent progress was made and by the end of the year the work was approaching completion. Wiring for electric lights, fans and power was in hand.
