Lookout Service Reservoir, the rising mains having been connected by means of a junction box. Similarly, the pumps erected in 1934 can now pump to either service reservoir. The unfiltered drive water is led to the turbines through a 15″ pipe about 170 feet long, taken off the 18″ common drive main laid in 1934, and exhausts into the upper filter beds inlet conduit. The 5″ filtered water suction pipe is taken from the gauge basin of Nos. 1 and 2 Filter Beds. The rising main to the Middle Gap Service Reservoir is 5″ in diameter and about 3,000 feet in length.
The plant at Middle Gap for pumping to Mount Cameron consists of two Tangye treble ram pumps similar to those at Eastern Filter Beds, together with two electric motors. These were obtained under Indent. through the Crown Agents. Each set is capable of delivering 1,800 gallons per hour into Mount Cameron Service Reservoir. The necessary power cable was laid by the Hong Kong Electric Co. A 6″ filtered water suction main 160 feet long was laid from Middle Gap Service Reservoir and a 3″ rising main about 2,000 feet long laid from the pumps to Mount Cameron Service Reservoir.
1,252 feet of 3″ distribution main were laid from Mount Cameron Service Reservoir to Middle Gap Road to connect the Reservoir to the east end of the existing Peak distribution system.
The distribution main from Middle Gap Service Reservoir to Stubbs Road and Bowen Road had not been laid by the end of the year and the pumps and rising mains had not been tested.
Work in connection with installing electric lights and motors in the new pump house at Middle Gap Road was in progress.
