Transmitscopies of Nos, 1,2,3,4,6 and 18, and presumes that the Colonial Govern- ment will be willing to combine with the Admiralty and War Office in providing the additional funds re- quired by the Royal Society for full enquiry into the disease.

States that the Executive Council have

advised an application to the Legisla. ! ture to vote £250 towards the objects referred to, and that the matter will be brought up on the re-assembling of the Colonial Parliament in May.

Regrets that the Executive Committee have decided against subscribing to the fund, but hopes later to obtain a reversal of the decision. Adds that the despatch of May 28th will be published in the Government Gazette, and copies sent to medical practi- tioners and the several parochial Commissioners of Health.

Transmite copy of a letter from the Principal Medical Officer of the East Africa and Uganda Protectorates, sub- mitting observations on No. 10, and requests views on the suggestion made for the training of Medical Officers.

Reports that a supplementary estimate for £50 will be brought before the Council of Government at an early date.

Observes that he has been much in- torested in reading the despatch of 28th May, and expresses opinion that the Legislative Council of Jamaica will not be behindhand in contribut- ing to the expenses of continuing the work.

Forwards communications from the Resident-General, Selangor, and Dr. Daniels commenting on suggestions by Sir P. Manson regarding the Kwala Lumpor Institute; makes sug- gestions as to the appointment of a permanent assistant.

Transmits copy of a Minute drawing the attention of the new Governor tö the question of the Colony contribut- ing to the advancement of the science of tropical medicine.

Submits recommendations of minor in- portance, and regrets that the financial position of the Colony does not, at present, admit of payments for the objects suggested.
