1.-JAMAICA.
Act of 1858.
Clause 17.-The employer shall, on or before 18th October in each year, make a return (Form No. 5) to the 30th September preceding of the names and numbers of all such immigrants as have been in his employment at any time during the past year, with the date and cause (as far as may be known) of all deaths, and the number of births, and the names of all who have left the estate during such preceding year, to the Agent-General, who shall insert the particulars in the register to be kept by him.
Clause 44.-Penalty for neglect, 201
Every employer who omits to make the annual return shall, on conviction, forfeit not exceeding 201.
II. ANTIGUA,
Act of 1862.
Clause 26.-Every employer of immigrants under a written contract to labour Half-yearly Re- shall, on or before the 10th of January and the 10th of July in each and every year, turns of immigrants make out and transmit to the Immigration Agent a return in writing of the number of by employers. immigrants who were in his service under written contract on the last day of the preceding month, which return shall be made out in the manner and form specified in the Schedule hereto annexed marked H, and shall be described as the return of the person with whom such immigrants shall have been under a written contract or other- wisc, and shall contain a specification of the total number of such immigrants, and also of all deductions from the original number of immigrants under written contract, as aforesaid, which shall have taken place within the last preceding six months by death or desertion, stating the names, numbers, and vessels of import of those who may have died or deserted, and also of those who may have returned to the performance of their contract after their desertion, giving the like description, and also of the births of any children among such immigrants, specifying the ages and sexes of such children, and the names and numbers of their parents, and also a declaration that the contents of such return are in all respects true and correct; and any person who shall neglect to transmit within fourteen days after the time specified, any such return as aforesaid, shall pay a sum of forty shillings, and a like sum for each and every subsequent month during which such neglect shall continue: and any person making or signing any such return or declaration knowing the same to be false, shall be liable to be punished as by law provided in the case of wilful and corrupt perjury.
III. BRITISH GUIANA.
Ordinance No. 4 of 1864,
Clause 84.-Every employer of immigrants shall, on or before the 14th day of January and the 14th day of July in each and every year, make out and deliver to the Immigration Agent-General a return in writing of the number of each description of immigrants in his service on the last day of the present month; and such return shall be in the form No. 25 in the Schedule B hereunto” armexed, and shall be correctly filled up according to the several headings therein set forth.
89. If any employer, officer, or person mentioned in any of the Sections of this part of the Ordinance shall neglect or refuse to send to the Immigration Agent-General as aforesaid any such return, statement, or certificate as aforesaid, every such employer, officer, or person, shall be deemed guilty of an offence, and on being convicted thereof shall pay a fine not exceeding the sum of twenty-four dollars; and a certificate under the hand of the Immigration Agmi-General, stating that such return, statement, or certificate has not been sent to him, shall, if produced before any Stipendiary Justice, be by him received as sufficient primd facie evidence of the truth of the complaint.
