ENCLOSURES

FURTHER ACTION

Dear wire,

I regret very much that I have kept you waiting so long before letting you know what had happened about the request which we had received from Hong Kong concernin the desire of Mustrilian M.tion.1 zirways to extend their .ustraliɛ – Manila scheduled (ir service to that Colony.

We now underst: nd that ustralian Nation 1 1r yo h ve not yet received a licence from the Government of ustr: 11c for the operation of a service to Manila and that consequently there is no point at the present in pursuing the suggestion that they should extend this service to Hong Kong. The mattor would a pour to be one for the Government of Australia, which is at the moment examining the economic poooibilities of services between zmotralia and China.

Yours sincerely,

G.V. 3WIE (11) (3603) WL 43090/394 50m 12/44 C.N.L. 748
