I regret very much that I have kept you waiting so long before letting you know what had happened about the request which we had received from Hong Yong concerning the desire of ustralian W tioncl Airways to extend their ustrali:- Manila scheduled vir service to that Colony.

We now underst: në that Australian National Airways have not yet received o licence from the Government of ustralia for the oper tion of a service to Manila and that consequently there is no point at the present in pursuing the suggestion that they should extend this service to Hong Kong. The matter would appear to be one for the Government of Australia, which is at the moment examining the economic nosnibilities of services between

ustralia and China.
