dates during 1944, the securities charged by you to this Bank to secure overdraft or Banking facilities were returned to you by the Japanese Liquidators against payment by you of certain sums in alleged satisfaction of your indebtedness.

We neither regard the payment made by you as discharge of your obligations to us, nor do we recognise the action of the Japanese liquidators in releasing our security

to you.

With reference to my recent conversation with the Chief Accountant, I now beg to hand you the Shares specified below for Safe Custody, which form part of the Shares released to me by the Liquidator on my repayment to him during the Japanese occupation of my overdraft with your Bank amounting to HK$1,076,107.08 (Hong Kong Dollars One Million seventy six thousand one hundred and seven and Cents Eight only) including interest to date of payment; and I so hand you the Shares without prejudice to my position arising from such repayment which I was compelled to make.
