and if such vehicle is not claimed by the owner within three months of the date of its detention the Commissioner thereafter may sell by public auction or otherwise dispose of such vehicle and may apply the proceeds, if any, from the sale or disposal of the vehicle-

(a) in payment of any vehicle licence fees which may be due

in respect of the vehicle;

(b) in payment of any charges incurred in carrying out the

provisions of these regulations;

(c) in payment of any damage caused to any property of

Government by the unlawful use of such vehicle,

and any surplus remaining thereof shall be transferred to the general revenue of the Colony at the expiry of twelve months from the date of such sale or disposal if not previously claimed by the owner of the vehicle.

8. (1) The Commissioner by the erection of signs in accordance with diagrams Numbers 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 in the First Schedule may restrict the use of any road or part of any road.

(a) When any such signs are erected, they shall be placed in such manner that the signs in accordance with diagrams Numbers 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7 in the First Schedule shall face the traffic entering the road or part of a road to be restricted by such signs, and the sign in accordance with diagram Number & in the First Schedule may be attached to any of the signs in accordance with diagrams Numbers 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7 to indicate the extent and direction in which waiting is restricted or prohibited.

(3) Where the circumstances require, the times, wording and the direction of any arrow on the sign shown in diagrams Numbers 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 may be varied to accord with the restrictions imposed.

(4) Where, on a road, any of the signs in accordance with the diagrams in the First Schedule imposes a prohibition or restriction over a length of road greater than two hundred and fifty yards, the Commissioner shall erect at intervals not greater than one hundred and fifty yards, appropriate signs in accordance with such diagrams further to indicate the restriction or prohibition imposed on that road.

(5) Every sign in accordance with the diagrams in the First Schedule shall be mounted on or attached to-

(a) a post specially provided for the purpose, and every such post shall be painted in alternate black and yellow horizontal bands each band being twelve inches in width:

or

(b) a lamp or other standard which in either case may be painted with one or more yellow bands each band being not less than twelve inches in width.

9.

First

(1) Where signs in accordance with diagrams Numbers Significance 2. 3. 4. 5 or 6 in the First Schedule are erected in a road, no person of signs. shali park any vehicle or cause or permit any vehicle to wait on Schedule, the side of the road on which the sign is erected, during such diagrams

Numbers 2. days and hours as are prescribed in the notice or, if none are 3, 4, 5 or 6. prescribed, at any time:

Provided that this paragraph shall not apply if the driver of the vehicle is prevented from proceeding by circumstances beyond his control.

(2) Where a sign in accordance with diagram Number 7 in First the First Schedule is erected in a road, no person shall park any diagram vehicle or cause or permit any vehicle to wait on that road-

(a) except on the side of the road on which such sign indicates that waiting is permitted and in any case for not longer than such time as is indicated in the sign; or

(b) if a period of less than forty minutes has elapsed since the termination of the last period of waiting, if any, of the vehicle on the road or part of a road the use of which is so restricted.

10. Nothing in regulation 9 shall apply-
