(3) A parking place may be divided into spaces, each to accommodate one vehicle of the class or type to which use of the parking place is limited, by white lines or by studs.

(4) The Commissioner may cause to be erected at the end of the parking place nearest to the oncoming traffic a sign in First accordance with diagram Number in the First Schedule, and Schedule,

if the use of the parking place is limited in any way including diagram Number 1, limitations as to the use of such parking place by vehicles of a particular class or type there shall be attached to the post on which the sign is mounted a notice showing the type of vehicle permitted to use the parking place and containing conditions relating to the use of the parking place.

(5) Any place which at the date of coming into force of these regulations has been set aside as a place where vehicles may be parked or may wait in accordance with the provisions of any enactment then in force shall be deemed to have been designated in accordance with the provisions of this regulation so long as it is delineated in accordance with the provisions of such enactment.

(6) The exercise by the Commissioner of his functions under this regulation shall not render him subject to any liability in respect of the loss or damage to any vehicle in a parking place or to the contents of any such vehicle.

5. (1) The Commissioner may designate by the delineation of appropriate lines and the erection of appropriate signs any place on any road for the exclusive use of vehicles used for any particular purpose including fire brigade vehicles, vehicles used solely for the conveyance of public mail, vehicles used solely by the armed forces of the Crown or ambulances.

(2) No person shall park any vehicle or cause or permit any vehicle to wait in any place which has been designated in accord- ance with the provisions of paragraph (1) unless such vehicle is of the kind for which such place was designated.

6. (1) No person shall park any vehicle or cause or permit a vehicle to wait in any parking place in contravention of any sign or signal lawfully erected at or near such parking place for the direction of vehicles in the parking place or for the designa- tion of the type or class of vehicle which may be parked in the parking place.

(2) No person shall park any vehicle or cause or permit a vehicle to wait in a parking place in such a manner that the vehicle unnecessarily projects over any line which divides the space in which the vehicle is parked from any other space.

(3) No person shall park any taxi or cause or permit any taxi to wait in any place other than a place set aside as a place in which taxis may wait or be parked.

7. (1) If the Commissioner temporarily suspends the Removal of designation of a parking place in accordance with the provisions from of regulation 4, he shall indicate such suspension by the erection suspended at the parking place of appropriate signs.

(2) No person shall park any vehicle or cause or permit any vehicle to wait or remain in any parking place the operation of which is suspended in accordance with the provisions of para- graph (1) of regulation 4.

(3) Any police officer in uniform of the rank of sub-inspector or above may take away or cause to be taken away any vehicle found in any such parking place during any such suspension to a place of safety, there to be detained until released by order of the Commissioner or by an order of a court or magistrate in accordance with the provisions of paragraph (4).

(4) Where a vehicle is detained in accordance with the provi- sions of this regulation and proceedings have been taken in respect of a contravention of paragraph (a) the court or magistrate in such proceedings may order that the vehicle be released and in any such order may require that such sum as the court or magistrate considers to be sufficient to repay the reasonable expenses incurred in carrying out the provisions of paragraph (3) shall be paid to the Commissioner as directed by the court or magistrate before the vehicle is released.

(5) Where a vehicle is detained in accordance with the provisions of this regulation, and no order has been made under paragraph (4) the Commissioner may detain the vehicle until the reasonable expenses incurred in carrying out the provisions of paragraph (3) have been repaid to him,

(6) When a vehicle is detained in accordance with the provisions of this regulation the Commissioner with all reason- able despatch shall give notice in writing to the owner, if the name and address of such owner is known to him, of the seizure
