BUILDINGS.
178. Market, Roads, Drainage at Tsun Wan: -Sketch plans and working drawings for a small open market of reinforced concrete containing twelve meat stalls-six for vegetables and six for fish-together with coolie quarters and latrine were prepared and at the end of December these were ready for tendering.
A contract for site formation and drainage was let on 22nd August to Messrs. Foo Loong & Co. and was completed on 6th December. 9,136 cubic yards earth cutting and filling were carried out, 744 feet of sewers laid, and 904 feet of storm water drains laid, with contingent works.

179. Roads:-Kerbs, channels and surfacing to road and footpaths were laid in front of the new buildings erected at Taipo Market and Un Long.

180. Drainage :-(a) Training Nullahs:-The nullah in low area near the railway at Taipo was extended.

(b) Miscellaneous Drainage Works:-New main sewers and storm water drains were constructed to a length of 789 feet, varying in diameter from 18" to 6". The number of drain connections made was twenty-five.

181. Miscellaneous-The following works were carried out:-Po Chu Tam Police Station-new barbed wire entanglement surrounding station, Sha Tau Kok Police Station-additions to barbed wire entanglement surrounding station, Pillar Boxes—seven erected. A small portion of the low area on the north side of Taipo Market Bridge was brought up to the existing road level.
Improvements and additions were made in five buildings. Electrical installation was rewired in the wireless room and fog signal firing apparatus were installed in the Lighthouse at Gap Rock. Telephone communication was installed at the Guard House at Fanling Lodge. An aerial was erected at Taipo Market for wireless loudspeaker.
