Distribution Mains:-The following works were carried out under this head:-195 feet of 6" cast iron main were laid in Kweilin Street near Taipo Road and 850 feet of 12" cast iron main were laid in Castle Peak Road between Chung Wah Street and Cheung Fat Street to provide a feed main from Pipers Hill Reservoir to Shamshuipo.

174. Formation of Dumping Ground at Kun Tong:-This work is also referred to in paragraph 206 under "Works not appearing in Estimates". The work defrayed under this head by Government involved the construction of about 900 feet of sea walling and the erection of six wooden landings for refuse boats to berth alongside in order to facilitate the discharge of refuse behind the new wall. The formation of this dump was nearing completion at the end of the year.

175. Refuse Dump at Kun Tong:-The expenditure under this head was for covering over refuse dumped at Kun Tong. During the year approximately 46,900 cubic yards of spoil was excavated from the surrounding hillside, transported and spread over the refuse. Mr. Pang Chick finished his contract for the above work on 31st March and a new contract was awarded to Messrs. Woo Hing on 1st April.

176. Refuse Boat Pier at Kweilin Street, Shamshuipo: This work was referred to in paragraph 176 of last year's Report. A contract for the construction of a reinforced concrete pier, forty-four feet in length and thirty-four feet in width and the erection thereon of two refuse chutes, was let to Messrs. Chung Lee & Co. in March. It was completed satisfactorily and brought into use in September.
