Repairs due to white ant damage were carried out to the following buildings:- Ma Tau Kok Cattle Depôt, Kowloon Hospital, Police Training School, Kowloon Disinfecting Station, Hung Hom School, Hung Hom Police Station, Green Island Gunpowder Depôt and Tai Kok Tsui Market - rebuilt two matsheds.

The electrical installations were maintained in good order. 581 fans and eighty-five radiators were cleaned and overhauled. Nineteen fan motors were completely rewound and sixteen radiators fitted with new elements. Additions and alterations to fifty-three points were carried out in twenty-one buildings. 1,660 points in twenty-nine Government buildings were tested and fifteen inventories of electrical fittings issued. On the premises of the Kowloon-Canton Railway, British Section, the electrical installations in Tsim Tsa Tsui Station, Offices and European Quarters were maintained in good order. Poster Room, Book Kiosk, Inspector's New Office and A. Block Quarters were wired for additional lights and power plugs. A wireless loudspeaker was installed in the Station Master's Office.

68. Improvements to Buildings:- The principal improvements carried out under this heading were as follows:— Yaumati Government School - installed metal windows, Tsim Tsa Tsui Police Station - reinforced concrete floor in Deputy Superintendent of Police Quarters. Green Island Quarters - new balustrade to balcony, Kowloon Hospital - reinforced concrete partitions to verandahs of nurses quarters and drying horses and lines, Yaumati Police Chamber - supplied H.W. racks to store, Yaumati Police Station - provided new bathroom for European Police, Hung Hom Electrical Workshop - new reinforced concrete roof to quarters, Ma Tau Kok Cattle Depôt - new breeze floors and jalousies, also disinfectant channels to dog kennels and waterproofed gable of quarters, Ma Tau Kok Cattle Depôt Quarters - new brickwork boundary wall, Central British School supplied and fixed water storage tank, Kowloon Post Office - alterations to counter and supplied notice case, Mong Kok Market - provided hanging rails. Electrical improvements and additions were carried out in eleven buildings.

69. Roads and Bridges (Maintenance and Improvements):- The surface of approximately fifty-three miles of roads was maintained in a satisfactory manner. Particulars of the additional areas laid with improved surfacing were:-
