63. Stores Depreciation.-The adjustment of stores values and reconditioning of old stores have been met from this vote, to the extent of $10,518.79.

The following sums were credited to this vote:-$4,228.80, being rebate on freight charges in connection with stores purchased in England through the Crown Agents: $6,226.36, being the value of stores returned which had been issued prior to 1933.

The result showed a net expenditure on this vote of $63.63.

64. Bathing Places.-No structures were erected by Government at Kennedy Town or Repulse Bay. Repulse Bay Beach was opened to the public on 1st May and closed on 1st November.

Expenditure $1,963.90

KOWLOON.

65. Maintenance of Buildings.-Government buildings were kept in a good state of repair. Painting, colourwashing and repairs in accordance with the recurring programme were carried out to thirty buildings. Major repairs included Ma Tau Kok Cattle Depot-repairs to cement surfacing in compound, Disinfecting Station-repairs to plant, Police Training School-repairs to fencing, Hung Hom Police Station-levelling and returfing of parade ground, Police Training School-alterations and Malthoid roofing to covered way, Blackhead Signal Station-renewal of Storm Signals, Yaumati Pig Market-repairs to roof, Tsim Tsa Tsui Police Station-provision of a new counter in Canteen and sundry repairs, Chatham Road Playground-repairs to matshed. Repairs due to White Ant damage were carried out at the following buildings:-Kowloon Disinfecting Station, Ma Tau Kok Cattle Depot, Tsim Tsa Tsui Police Station, Hung Hom Market, Central British School, Kowloon Junior School, Yaumati Slipway, Hung Hom Police Station, Yaumati School and Kowloon Magistracy.

The electrical installations were maintained in good order. 310 fans and 31 radiators were cleaned and overhauled. 42 fans and motors were completely rewound and 9 radiators fitted with new elements. Additions and alterations to ninety-seven points were carried out in thirteen buildings. Seven police recall signal lanterns were installed at Yaumati, Mong Kok Tsui, Sham Shui Po, Hung Hom, Kowloon City and Tsim Sha Tsui Police Stations (on repayment by Police Funds). The electrical installations in fourteen Government buildings were tested and repaired and twenty-seven inventories of Electrical Fittings issued. Taipo, Taipo Market and Fanling Railway Stations were wired for lights, the Railway Workshop was rewired for electric light and power, and an underground cable for power and light was laid there (on repayment from Railway funds).
