LAND SALES ETC.
302. Land Sales, Extension, Grants, etc.-The total amount of premia paid into the Treasury during the year was $3,192,551.36 of which $15,521.25 was derived from fees for boundary stones. The estimate for the year was $1,500,000.00. Table X gives a comparative statement of the Revenue derived from Land Sales &c. for the years 1922-1931.
303. Sales by Auction.-An area of 217,800 square feet at Stanley was sold to the Catholic Foreign Mission Society of America and an area of 1,330,000 square feet at the junction of Argyle Street & Waterloo Road, Kowloon was sold to the Hong Kong Engineering and Construction Co.
304. Grants on Nominal Terms. An area of 87,120 square feet at Leighton Hill Road was granted to the Po Leung Kuk, an area of 9,900 square feet at Ho Mun Tin to the Anglican Chinese Church in Hong Kong, an area of 1,656 square feet at Ho Mun Tin to the Tung Wah Hospital and an area of 99,147 square feet at Kowloon Tong to the Kowloon Tong Garden City Association.
305. Permits to occupy land for short periods.-These were of a very miscellaneous character and too numerous to admit of individual mention. The total amount of fees collected during the year was $211,053.53, being $73,008.18 for Hong Kong, $93,000.09 for Kowloon and $45,045.26 for New Kowloon. New permits issued during the year totalled 804 and 212 were cancelled for various reasons; the total number of permits in force being 3,967.
306. Prospecting and Mining Licences.-One mining licence for an area at Tsun Wan was issued and one for an area at Lantao Island was renewed during the year.
307. Crown Lands and Survey Drawing Office.-A staff of one Chief Draughtsman and fourteen Chinese Draughtsmen were employed during the year, and 12,479 plans as detailed below were prepared in connection with 101 Land Sales, 855 Leases and miscellaneous permits, exchanges &c.
