94. The reservoirs were at or over their permanent overflow levels for the following periods :-

The rainfall for the year amounted to 80.39 inches (Observatory) being 15.70 inches less than last year and 5.10 inches below the average for the last forty-eight years. The rainfall was well distributed between April and September, the heaviest monthly fall recorded being 16.61 inches at Tai Tam in August. The reservoirs were consequently late in reaching overflow level. 3 inches of rain fell on 9th December which creates a new twenty-four hours record for that month.
96. The reservoirs were never at their maximum capacity during the year as the Aberdeen Upper Reservoir was not completed to overflow level until after the rains had ceased.
97. The maximum quantity in storage was 2,235.36 million gallons (exclusive of the Lower Aberdeen Reservoir) on 21st September. The total quantity of water remaining in storage at the end of the year was 1,622.99 million gallons,
