The total quantity of water pumped from Tai Tam Tuk Reservoir during the year amounted to 1,406.20 million gallons, of which 1,355.40 million gallons were pumped by the Simpson Engines and 50.80 million gallons by the Tangye Engines. This total exceeds that of last year by 123.98 million gallons.
99. The total quantity of water supplied during the year amounted to 3,942.65 million gallons (which includes 632.63 million gallons from the mainland) filtered, and 43.56 million gallons unfiltered, making a grand total of 3,986.21 million gallons, or 498.09 million gallons more than during 1930.
100. The average consumption of filtered water per head per day for all purposes throughout the year was about 28.3 gallons. In arriving at this figure, the population has been estimated at 381,000. Full details of consumption, etc., will be found in Tables V and VI.
101. The analyses made by the Government Analyst show that the water was of good quality throughout the year, whilst the results obtained by bacteriological examination were satisfactory.
102. The quantity of water pumped to the High Level District of the City was 194.75 million gallons, equal to an average daily consumption of about 533,000 gallons, whilst 66.60 million gallons were pumped to the Peak District, giving an average daily consumption of 182,000 gallons.
103. As compared with 1930, there was an increase of 48.88 million gallons pumped to the High Level District and an increase of 9.2 million gallons pumped to the Peak District.
104. The grand total pumped during the year to the High Levels and Peak District amounted to 261.35 million gallons as compared with 209.68 million gallons in 1930, and an increase of 51.67 million gallons. Tabulated statements containing particulars of the quantities of water pumped to the High Levels of the City and to the Peak District respectively will be found in Table VII.
105. The Turbines and Pumping Plant at Bowen Road worked satisfactorily during the year and delivered an average daily supply of 156,000 gallons to the High Level District.
106. All engines, motors, and station buildings have been kept in good order throughout the year. The work of overhauling the valves on the principal mains in the City was continued during the year, 119 being thoroughly repaired.
