Monmouth Path, Po Shan Road, Peak Road, Victoria Road, and Watson Road, should be extinguished at twelve midnight instead of at the times specified in the Gas Street Lighting Agreement.

82. Electric Lighting, City, Hill District and Shaukiwan. Traffic control lights in City, thirty-eight in number, were maintained in working order.

83. The total number of lamps on the Island of Hong Kong is as follows:

In addition to these, the Taikoo Dockyard and Engineering Co. of Hong Kong, provide ten lamps, each having a cluster of three 100 C.P. incandescent lamps for lighting the road adjacent to their property, and the Taikoo Sugar Refinery Co. also provide and light seven 2,000 C.P. incandescent lamps for road adjacent to their property.

84. An arrangement, similar to that made with the Gas Co. for the extinguishing at midnight of a number of street lamps, was made with the Hong Kong Electric Co. The following were the roads affected. In all 318 lamps came under the arrangement:

Bowen Road, Brewin Path, Homestead Path, Lugard Road, Magazine Gap Road, Mount Davis Road, Mount Cameron Road, Pokfulam Road, Sassoon Road, Stubbs Road and Tregunter Path.

85. Extensions of Lighting. No extension of lighting was carried out during the year, the amount provided in the Estimates having been deleted as a retrenchment.

86. Typhoon and Rainstorm Damages. Following the typhoons, repairs of varying magnitude were necessary to about seventy Government buildings. Damage to electrical wiring and fittings in seven buildings, and telephone aerial routes to Stanley, Aberdeen, Peak, Bowen Road, Shaukiwan and West Filter Reds were restored or made good. Sand washed down by the heavy rains was removed from several nullahs. Damage was also caused to the Praia walls and certain piers and the necessary repairs were carried out.
