186. Further Reclamation at Shamshuipo.-This work was referred to in paragraph 165 of last year's Report.
A Contract was let for the construction of the sea wall about 1,600 lineal feet in length to protect the reclamation and the deposition of the necessary filling at the back of the wall to bring the area to formation level. This work was commenced in April. At the end of the year, 11,070 cu. yds. of silt covering the rubble mound had been removed, and sufficient pell-mell rubble deposited to bring the foundations to Contract levels. Berm stones to protect the foundations had been set for a distance of 1,100 lineal feet and the sea wall less the coping constructed for a distance of 679 lineal feet. About 13,000 cu. yds. of filling had been deposited behind the sea wall.

187. Compensation and Resumptions.-This vote provided for the resumption of properties required for Street Widening and Improvement Schemes, and in connection with the development of the district in accordance with the approved Town Planning Scheme.
The resumptions referred to in Schedule A on page 19 of this report and the payments made by the Government in connection with the conversions and exchanges referred to at page 8 were debited to this vote.

188. Anglo-Chinese School-Cheung Chau. This work is referred to in paragraph 168 of last year's Report.
It was decided on account of cost to reduce the number of Classrooms from six to five and the maximum number of pupils to be accommodated to 160.
The Contract for the building was let to Mr. Ng Wah, and the Furniture Contract to the Hong Kong Furniture Co.
The work was commenced in February, and despite a difficulty experienced in obtaining adequate supplies of bricks during the summer months, was satisfactorily completed within the Contract time in November.
