Fresh tenders were called for and in April Mr. Man Gang was awarded the contract for one year. By the end of the year approximately 6.6 acres of ground had been filled in to a level above extreme high water.
The requirements of the Sanitary Department as regards provision of covering spoil etc. were met throughout the year.

184. Lai Chi Kok Gaol, Fire Fighting Appliances.—This work consisted of purchasing and installing a number of Fire Extinguishers and Hose Pipes in advantageous positions recommended by the Fire Brigade in the various Government Buildings.
