157. Filling in Tidal Flat and Cutting down Hill between Tai Kok Tsui and Fuk Tsun Heung.-This work was referred to in paragraph 149 of last year's Report.
The work was completed at the end of the year.
The area of the Tidal Flats reclaimed is approximately 55½ acres and involved the deposition of 743,683 cu. yds. of filling materials of which 117,446 cu. yds. were deposited during the year. The length of sea wall built to protect the reclamation measures 979.6 lineal feet. 250 lineal feet of nullah was constructed during the year, thus completing a length of 1,250 lineal feet of nullah extending from the outfall to the north side of Shanghai Street crossing. Minor extensions were carried out to the Shanghai Street and Ivy Street re-inforced concrete bridges which had been constructed over the nullah in a previous year.

158. General Repairs to Police Pier at Kowloon Point.— Extensive repairs were carried out to the portion of the Steel Pier at Kowloon Point which is subject to range of tide.
The repairs involved renewal in re-inforced concrete of the walings, braces, struts, encasing portions of the steel piles in concrete, the reconstruction of the landing steps and the renewal of a considerable amount of the timber fendering.

159. Compensation and Resumptions.—This vote provided for the Resumption of properties required for Street Widening and Improvement Schemes, and in connection with the development of the district in accordance with the approved Town Planning Scheme. The Resumptions referred to in Schedule A on page 19 of this Report and the payments made by the Government in connection with the conversion and exchanges referred to at page 8 were debited to this vote.
