The number of inspections of private services carried out amounted to 12,549. Defective services were found in 487 cases all of which were put in proper repair after the usual notices had been served.
66. Maintenance of Waterworks, Shauliwan.—A constant supply of water by fountains was maintained throughout the year, this being possible owing to a temporary connection being made to the City Mains. The total quantity of water drawn from the City Mains amounted to 5.13 million gallons.
The total consumption for the year amounted to 62.94 million gallons which includes 2.54 million gallons to the Barracks at Saiwan and 3.21 million gallons to the boat population, or an average of about 172,000 gallons per day.
Details of the consumption are given in Annexe F.
There were 61 meters in use at the close of the year.
67. Maintenance of Waterworks, Aberdeen.—A satisfactory supply of water was maintained throughout the year, the total consumption being 29.67 million gallons, including 4.69 million gallons supplied through the waterboat station, as compared with a total consumption of 30.05 million gallons and a waterboat supply of 4.92 million gallons during 1924. The average consumption throughout the year amounted to 81,000 gallons per day.
Details of the consumption are given in Annexe G.
There were 12 meters in use at the close of the year.
68. Maintenance of Waterworks, Repulse Bay. The total quantity of water supplied during the year amounted to 9.76 million gallons or an average consumption of 27,000 gallons per day.
There were 19 meters in use at the close of the year.
69. Water Account (Meters &c.).—The number of meters examined and repaired during the year was 1,925. A systematic overhaul of all meters is now being carried out.
