In addition to these, the Taikoo Dockyard & Engineering Co. of Hongkong provide and light 10 lamps, each having a cluster of three-100 C.P. incandescent lamps for lighting the road adjacent to their property, and the Taikoo Sugar Refining Co. also provide and light seven 2,000 C.P. incandescent lamps for the roads adjacent to their property.
54. Extensions of Lighting.-267 lamps were installed during the year-162 being Gas and 105 Electric.
55. Maintenance of Praya Walls and Piers. The principal items executed under this heading were general repairs to the Blake Pier, Western Market Pier and Keng Shan Wharf at a cost of $4,013.42, $1,494.25 and $1,438.99 respectively.
Repairs to Murray Pier, Shaukiwan Pier, Harbour Office Pier and Queen's Pier were also executed.
56. Maintenance of Public Cemeteries.-The cemeteries were generally maintained in a satisfactory condition, numerous graves being repaired.
57. Maintenance of Chinese Cemeteries.-The work carried out under this heading has been alluded to in paragraph 37 of this report:-
