242. Pitt Street Dust Shoot.-Plans were prepared and a contract let in December. The work will consist of a 22 ft. steel pier with concrete deck and a dust shoot for lighters.

At the end of the year, preliminary works had been started.

243. Levelling and clearing site of K.I.L. 630.-A Contract for this work, which formed part of a condition of exchange, was let in June. It was inadvertently omitted from the 1922 Report.

The work was finished in April at a total cost of $11,311.16 of this amount $5,565.65 was spent during the current year.

244. Filling in area at Kowloon City-This work, which consists of filling in low-lying areas to the South of Kowloon City to approved formation levels, is for the purpose of providing sites for exchange purposes in connection with the resumption of property in this neighbourhood.

A Contract for the work was let in October and a good start had been made by the end of the year.

NEW TERRITORIES.

245. Fanling-Shataukok Road.-For convenience, this work was divided into 2 sections, namely:-

Fanling-Au Ha Gap Section, which consists of widening the present 6 ft. road and 14 ft. bridges to 20 feet, the present width being almost wholly utilized by the light railway.

Au Ha-Shataukok;-this section is a new alignment through the centre of the valleys traversed. By the end of the year, the necessary survey and sections had been made and contracts let with local village elders for carrying out the work.
