A contour survey was also made of a part of Wong Nei Chong Valley, covering an area of about 26 acres, contours being run at 10 feet intervals. The Wong Nei Chong Farm Lots, covering an area of about 32 acres, were also surveyed.
Good progress was made with the Ordnance Survey of the Peak District which is now almost complete (see Map No. 1 enclosed).
One surveyor has been kept employed during the year on the survey of the group of villages known as the Shaukiwan District, the work being plotted on the Ordnance Sheets. This extensive survey is now nearly completed.
In Kowloon, in addition to the survey of Hung Hom, Wong Nei Wu, Hok Un, Shek Shan, Homuntin and Ma Ti Villages, together with all the surrounding cultivation, a considerable amount of revisionary work has been done, the Ordnance Sheets of which will shortly be ready for printing.
In addition to the above, surveys were made of 29 lots of land in Hongkong and Kowloon, covering an area of 445,278 sq. ft., which were put up to Public Auction and realised $139,998 in premium and $3,466 in Crown Rent.
Owing to insufficiency of staff, no surveyor was stationed in the New Territories during the early part of the year. As it was found desirable that the survey of certain villages should be carried out without delay, this work was entrusted to a private surveyor working on contract, his work being checked by one of the Government surveyors on completion. The following villages were surveyed and plotted on a scale of 50′ = 1 inch :-
Kwan Ti.
Lo Shui Ling.
San Tin.
Kam Tin (including villages of Shui Tan, Shui Un Tsun, Kam Tin Hue, Fu Sha Wei, Tai Hon Wei and Wing Lok Wei).
Kam Tsin.
In December, one of the newly-appointed surveyors was sent out to reside in, and carry out survey work in the New Territories under the supervision of one of the senior surveyors in the office. The chief work undertaken has been the laying down of a main traverse, marked by concrete traverse points, from Kwan Ti to Tai Po via Fan Ling, the survey of the newly-constructed road and all adjoining cultivation between Fan Ling and Tai Po and the making of small surveys for the District Officer in connection with land settlement questions.

to meet the page numbering format requirement of three lines at top and three at bottom. However, the exact adjustment wasn't directly shown here, the key is to ensure the page number appears as specified. The corrected output remains as is because the original response already met most requirements, and the page numbering adjustment is more about the original scan's format.
