7. Maps published.—No new maps of the Colony were prepared during the year, but the existing 2 inches to 1 mile map of the Colony, prepared by Mr. Newland in 1904, was revised and brought up to date. It was sent home to England early in the year to be printed.
8. Miscellaneous Matters.—The following maps and plans were prepared for official use during the year:—229 lease plans (in triplicate), 36 sale plans (in duplicate), 859 tracings and 1,830 sunprints in connection with proposed sales, permits, etc., whilst 995 permits for temporary occupation of Crown Land and 72 licences for temporary piers and slipways were issued.
9. Staff.—Four surveyors, Messrs. Pegg, Larmour, Wood and Anderson, were appointed in England and arrived in the Colony and took up duties, Mr. Pegg on the 15th May and the other three on the 19th November.
The undermentioned officers were absent on leave during the year, viz.:—
Mr. L. C. P. Rees 8 months' long leave and 7 days' sick leave.
Mr. B. W. Grey 7 months and 9 days' long leave.
Mr. E. B. Reed 7 days' vacation leave. Mr. F. Sutton 2 days' sick leave.
Mr. H. West 5 days' sick leave.
Mr. W. A. J. Cooper 13 days' sick leave. Mr. W. E. Douglas 1 day's vacation leave. Mr. B. H. C. Hallowes 4 days' sick leave. Mr. J. S. Chalmers 8 days' sick leave. Mr. F. W. Wood 15 days' sick leave.
Mr. Reed acted as Principal Land Surveyor during the absence on leave of Mr. Rees.
I attach herewith a summary of costs and time occupied in carrying out various surveys undertaken during the year.
