4. Cost of Office. As the Survey Office forms part of the Public Works Department and is accommodated in the same building, the charges for numerous items such as lighting, heating, electric fans, etc., cannot be stated. Omitting these, the following is a statement of the cost:

5. Trigonometrical Survey. - No new triangulation work was undertaken during the year.
6. Topographical and Cadastral Surveys. - About 180 miles of traverses have been run during the year and traverse stations permanently marked on the ground. It was also found necessary to retraverse certain portions previously traversed in consequence of stations having been lost or dug up.
A considerable portion of the Western District of the City, containing about 55 acres, was surveyed and plotted in detail on the Ordnance Sheets.
An area of about 320 acres, which is divided up into 32 lots, known as the Pokfulam Farm Lots, has been surveyed and plotted on the Ordnance Sheets to a scale of 200' to an inch. In conjunction with this work, considerable detail such as roads, buildings, etc., have also been picked up and plotted in detail.
In the Eastern part of the City portions of the districts known as Wanchai, Bowrington and Sookunpoo have been surveyed in detail and plotted on the Ordnance Sheets.
In addition to this a contour (5 feet contours) survey covering an area of about 5 acres was made of the summit of Leighton Hill. This survey was carried out in connection with the scheme for building quarters for subordinate officers.
