Declaration of Markets in the Urban Council Area first published in the Gazette as Government Notice Number 1620 of 1960;
(b) the Public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance (Public Markets) (Designation and Amendment of Tenth Schedule) (No. 2) Order 1996 be made under section 79(3) and (5) of the Public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance, Cap. 132.'
The purpose of the Declaration is to declare under section 79(1) of the Public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance, Cap. 132, the Smithfield Market, Wong Nai Chung Market and Hip Wo Street Temporary Market as markets to which the principal Ordinance applies and to amend the Schedule to the Declaration of Markets in the Urban Council Area accordingly, whereas the Order aims at adding Smithfield Market, Wong Nai Chung Market and Hip Wo Street Market to the Tenth Schedule to the Ordinance, in compliance with the legal requirements.

(4) MR. RONNIE Wong Man-chiu, Member of the Markets and Street TRADERS SELECT COMMITTEE, moved the following motion:-
'Resolved that the Hawker (Urban Council) (Amendment) Bylaw 1996 be made under section 83A of the Public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance, Cap. 132.
He said (in Cantonese):-As a Member of the Markets and Street Traders Select Committee, I rise to move the motion standing in my name:
'The Hawker (Urban Council) (Amendment) Bylaw 1996 be made under section 83A of the Public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance, Cap. 132.'
The purpose of the amendment bylaw is to amend the Hawker (Urban Council) Bylaws (Cap. 132 sub. leg.) by introducing an offence under new bylaw 5(3) whereby hawkers dealing with cooked food must have and comply with an appropriate licence. New bylaw 56(1) prescribes the applicable penalties.
