It is clear that Priestwood is not an ideal Crown
Advocate and that his post would be much better filled by
John McNeill, but I ask myself whether we have enough
evidence ( it seems to be all of the hearsay kind, on which to
give him the sack, which, as you will see from Phillips'
letter, would hit him very hard.

You might discuss it with Blackburn who not only knows more
about Shanghai than anyone else, but is also immensely wise and completely fair. If I had him here now and could talk it
