CHAPTER III (BB), (BBB), and (C).
(BB.)—Action by Intelligence Officer.
1. This officer will act under the D.A.A.G. (A) as Intelligence Officer, and will generally assist him.
2. He will be primarily responsible for the censorship of all telegrams received in or sent out from the station, and will be regulated in his action by the Rules for Censors in British Colonies and Protectorates," a copy of which will be furnished to him by the Governor on mobilization.
3. He will detail the officers nominated as his assistants, one to live on the premises in Deep Water Bay, one at Taihowan Bay, and one at the Chinese telegraph offices, and assign their duties to them.
4. He will make periodical visits to the various sections of the defence and receive reports from the commanders on any matters they may wish to bring to notice.
5. He will also make surprise visits along the Chinese telegraph cable, and see that it is not being tapped.
(BBB.)—Action by Brigade Signalling Officer.
1. This officer will act under the D.A.A.G. (A), and receive orders from him.
2. He will arrange the signalling parties required by the various sections of the defence, and see that they are properly equipped.
3. He will take over regimental signallers from Os.C. infantry battalions, and detail the parties to sections of the defence.
(C.)—Action by D.A.A.G. (B).

1. On the outbreak of hostilities, this officer will take immediate steps to
ensure -
(a.) The provision of all transport required for the distribution of all personnel and matériel.
(b.) The organization, maintenance, and housing of two Coolie Corps, and the entertainment of certain other coolies required by the troops.
(c.) The accumulation of the necessary supplies, their distribution, their storage accommodation, and their efficient protectiou.
(i.)——Transport.
2. The transport requirements for the conveyance of troops, guns of the movable armament, supplies and stores to the sections of the defence would consist of coolies by land, and steam launches and cargo and water boats by water. Little difficulty it is anticipated will be experienced in obtaining what is required for this purpose.
The Officer Commanding Army Service Corps is in charge of all army transport, and all requisitions for transport, where necessary, will be addressed to and dealt with by him. All transport, however, required for movement of troops, equipment, &c., on mobilization, will be provided without requisition.
3. The O.C.A.S.C., acting under the orders of the D.A.A.G. (B), will at once place himself in communication with the Harbour Master and the Captain Superintendent of Police, and will, with their co-operation, charter the extra launches, cargo and water boats, and coolies required for the distribution of all personnel and matériel.
