These guards will be relieved daily. They will, with the exception of the Kellet's Island guard, report themselves to the O.C.A.S.C., Victoria and Kowloon, for orders.

14. By Reserve Infantry, Victoria.—The O.C. troops of his battalion a guard of two sergeants, one bugler, and 16 privates to proceed at once by route march to the Aberdeen Dock, for the purpose of affording assistance to the dock authorities in the protection of the dock. This guard will remain permanently at the dock, and should be equipped accordingly. It should be rationed for two days, with cooked rations and 200 rounds of ammunition per rifle issued to it. Rations will be sent to it by the O.C. No. III Section of the defence, in case the dock authorities are unable to supply provisions, which must be notified to the O.C. the section. The senior sergeant will, on his arrival, report himself to the dock manager or his representative.

16. The officers in command of the reserve infantry in Victoria and Kowloon will detail patrols of two N.C. officers and fifteen men for the patrolling of Wanchai and Victoria, on the Hong Kong side, and Hunghom and Yaumati, on the Kowloon side, respectively. These patrols should go out at uncertain hours, both by day and night, communicate with the police, and keep a strict watch on the Chinese population. Any suspicious movement should be at once reported, and any gatherings dispersed. These patrols should be instructed to thoroughly patrol all the side streets and back alleys, as well as the main thoroughfares.

17. The officers in command of the reserve infantry at Victoria and Kowloon will also ensure that an inlying picquet of 100 rank and file, with proper proportion of officers, always remains ready to move out at a moment's notice to suppress, in connection with the police, any insurrectionary movement among the Chinese. 100 rounds of ammunition per rifle should be issued to these picquets, and one Maxim gun with 5,500 rounds of ammunition should also be kept ready to move out with them.

18. The troops allotted to the various sections of defence will parade in marching order, khahi, with water bottles filled and one day's cooked rations in haversacks.
