A civil surgeon will also be attached to the section for duty with the troops.

Coolies for carrying the dhoolies and stretchers mentioned in the Schedule of Equipment will be indented for as required.

Modes of Attack. The modes of attack that may be expected are:-

1. A landing at Aberdeen, covered by ships, and attack on the right; or 2. An attack on the left from a force landed in Deep Water Bay.

In the first place the hostile ships and boats would be exposed to the fire of the three howitzers on Bennet's Hill, H 2, and probably of the three howitzers above Deep Water Bay, H3. The gun-boats and torpedo-boats from the harbour may also be expected to co-operate against them.

The infantry in first line, reinforced probably by men and guns from the Reserves and elsewhere, would oppose the landing unless overwhelmed by superior fire from ships, in which case they would fall back to the second line and prevent any further advance.

Additional Works.-The works to be executed are:-

1. The entrenchments, &c., in first line.

2. The block-house B 6 on Bennet's Hill.

3. The howitzer battery on Bennet's Hill.

4. Field magazine for Bennet's Hill.

5. The second line entrenchments on Mount Gough spur and on Bennet's Hill; also the work round Sanitarium Barracks.

6. Communications to be made or improved.
