PEDERSON"
The handsome new four-masted schooner Otelin Pederson, which was abandoned last Octal er in Asiatic waters with a cargo of more than 1,000,000 feet of lumber on board, has been burned by the savage inhabitants of the Island of Formosa, who resorted to this method to obtain from the hull the rich harvest of iron and steel which entered into its construction. News of the schooner's fate has been received in San Francisco in a comunication to the underwriters from the Japanese Government. INDO-CHINA STEAM NAVIGATION
Shipping. Hongkong, Canton and Macao Steamboats have been parted with at $324. Indo-Chinas have considerably improved and are wanted at $87. Douglas Steamships have AT advanced to $371, but at this figure there are sellers. The general managers' report on the twentieth year's working of the company, ended 30th June, 1903, shows a divisible balance, including $43,190.93 proût on sale of s.s. Furmosa, of $112,781.60, and it is proposed to deal with this amount as follows:-To pay a dividend of 6 per cent ($3 per share) absor bing $63ropco, to transfer to reserve fundi $11,100.93 thus mising it to $185,000.00, and to write off the balance of $11.630.67 from the. values of the company's properties on the 30th June last. China, and Manilas are weak at $19. There is no chance to report in Star Ferries, the market closing at the previous quotations of $27 (nid) and 517 (new). Shell Transports were in good demand, and shares changed bands at advancing rates, up to £ 41 but bave since eased off and now close quiet at t.z6. Taku Tuge are in request in Tien- tsin at Tis. 40, but there are no shares to be had under Tis. 42 Shanghai Togs have to
