LORD CURZON'N TERM
It is to be devoutly wished that whatever impediments there might be in the path of the Home Government reappminting Lord Curzon for another term fyears will be easily removed, and that India will be permitted to continue under the Viceroyalty of the statesman who is universally acknowledged to be one of the best and greatest proconsuls England has ever sent out to this country. It would be too much to sav perhaps that Lord Curzon has made abso lutely to mistakes, lini bir midakes have been fewer and less serious than those recorded against the momes of some of the more tried and experienced angst the statesmen who have guvened this vast Empire. It is a re martable hote to the worthy and the ability al this, statesman that in spite of all the differ ences &Ɛupinión existing between him and his crities, on altost every great act of his admi- nistration, it should be universally acknow leted that the Logintry, wats him as vet, and that it waabi ga'n move from him than any¦ of those who are in the running r the post, Lord Cutz hats, by his sortageons statesinan-

Home tloven ent are willing to extend his term of office, but ther are one constantinnal difficulties in the way of their giving alert to their wishes. It is bebeyed that his Excellency will not consent to continue at his post without a few months have, and under existing arrangement such leave could not be had without vacating office. The Ministers are evidently hath to approach Parliament for removing the difficulty, and
they are also in dread of the India Council. Lets hope that whatever difficulty that may be standing in the way of India retaining the servires of his Farellency for some years more will he removed in time aft Goftar,

Mr. Ravelock Wilson, and the repre sentative of the Labour Party in the House of Commons, Mr. Thonis Bart. The presence of two such stalwarts on the Committee na- turally forbade us to hope that the claims of the Indias semen would be unanimously ack nowledged, and that justice would be tried to be done to them by those who were sent as the
representatives of the white sailar. But those who were sent to curse remained to bless, and with that true British instinct and that sense of British fairplay and justice which we have learnt to expect in Englishmen, neither of these valiani champions of British labeuring classes has hesitation to sign the report on behalf of the lascar. Considering the fact that sa relentless an enemy of the lascar as M. Wilson has been made to sign the report, and to go the length of endorsing the Committee's view that they possess seaworthy qualities and that the language test and other restrictions proposed against the foreigners should no apply to them, we are tempted-and with just reason to ascribe a greater value to the victory than we should have berwise thought mu- selves justified to do.-From the Ruft Gofter of Bombay.
ARTIFICIAL vs. NATURAL INDIGO.
Much has been said duling the last two ne three years about the manufacture of artificial indigo and its effee on the natural produce. It has been well know that the perfection to which the margfacture of the chendral article has been curied in Germany has led to a serious contraction of the trade in natural indigo in several of the great markets of the world, and that will serious developments are threatened. From a rezent report of the sale of indigo in the French market, it appears that there was a very perceptible contraction in the trade last year. There was a decline both in the quanlity and the prices of the produce According to the London canimercial corres. pondent of the Times indigo is imported into Havre from two countries only, India (chiefly Bengal) and Guatemala. The imports of the Bengal indigo last year only amounted to 1,604 cases against 2,314 cases. in gor and 3,296 cases in 1300 This continued falling off in the imports is ascribed by Consul-General Wyndham to the competition of artificial in- digo, manufactured in Germany. It is said to seriously threaten the very existence of the trade in natural Indian indigo in the Havre market. As things go, what has happened in the Havre market will be repeated before long in the others; for it is impossible that the natural article should be able to make a stand against the artificial product with so many

IT IS DIFFERENT NOW. Once upon a time students of medicine held the notion that there were as many different diseases as the body has organs and parts; every one of these ailments requiring a different treatment. So stupid a mistake could lead only to miserable failures. For the fact is, the holy is a single machine; and what concerns one part of it concerns, more or less closely, all the rest. Thus we see how it happens that 'ore remedy, or mode of treat. ment, may relieve and cure a variety of complaints, or what may appear like a variety, but are really various forms or out- comings of the same cause. Take, for example, Anemia, Scrofula, Poverty of Blood, Generd Debility, Influenza, Throat and Lung Diseases, etc.-a formidable array indeed they lenk to he; yet
WAMPOLE'S PREPARATION quickly abates the worst of such cases, and absolutely cures many which have been abandoned as hopeless. The reasons are its power over the digestive and assimilating process, its action in expelling impurities from the bloud, and its consequetit ability to vitalize and rebuild the whole structure: It is
