In a pantomime entitled "Portugal in Africa" which was being performed in a circus here yeş- terday, the clawas impersonated Major Pinin and Senbor Alvaro Castelloes (the engineer who accompanied him) defending the flag. England, the organ of the Primrose League, publishes a forecast of the programme of the Government, according to which twenty million sterling will be devoted to the extension of the Ashbourne Act in Ieland, and security will br arranged so that neither State, nor taxpayer shall suffer. One millian'of the surplus will be devoted to free education, and a portion of it to the armament of the Volunteer force. The arrest of Major Panitza and six officers at Sofia has caused much comment, and diver gent accounts are current as to the reason. The official version, states that it was only owing to seditious language; other reports state that the plot was of Russian origin for the overthrow of M. Stambuloff and to kidoap and murder Prince Ferdinand.
A terrible explosion has occurred' at Aber sybhan, in Monmouthshire. 300 miners being entombed. Later accounts state that 200 are living, and that 40 corpses have been recovered.
