UNEARTHED
LARGE SEIZURE MADE
HEAVY FINE IMPOSED
The discovery of a large heroin pills factory on the top floor of No. 3 United Terrace, Ho Mun Tin Street, Ho Mun Tin, was described before Mr. Q. A. A. Macfadyen at the Kowloon Magistracy yesterday afternoon when seven Chinese were charged with the posses. sion of 285,000 diacetyl mor- phine pills.
The defendants were Wong Kim, aged 48. unemployed; Kwan Pak, 29, unemployed; Cheung Yau, 26, unemployed; Ip Yau, 24, accoun- tant; Chu Hang, 28, amah; Cnan Ol, 16, umah: and Lau Foon, 54 years, also an amah,
Mr. W. M. Thomson, Assistant Superintendent of Imports and Exports, conducted the prosecution, while Mr. G. S. Hugh-Jones, of Messrs. Wilkinson and Grist, ap- peared for the defence. Ele tendered a plea of guilty on be- half of Wong Kim and not guilty on behalf of the other defendants. Mr. Thomson: I am asking for the case to be taken summarily, your Worship.

Before opening "the case, Mr. Thomson said that he would like to submit plans of the premises. He was in a position to produce evidence against the second, arth and" sixth defendants. He particularly desirous of carrying on the case against the second de- fendant but perhaps his Worship would decide the matter after he had outlined the case.
