H. M. S. CORN- FLOWER
To Be Taken Over By
R.N.V.R.
We understand that the sloop, Cornflower, which will be paid off on March 31 at Hong Kong, will be turned over to the newly form- ed Hong Kong Royal Naval Volun, teer Reserve Unit, and will be used as a training" ship.
Official confirmation d this move on the part of the Admiralty is still lacking, but we understand that in any case, the Cornflower will be temporarily turned over to the Hong Kong Government, and
that in all probability it will be
commanded by a retired Naval officer and manned by a crew of paid off ratings.
This news follows the recent action of the Straits Settlements' Government, in offering the Governor's Steam Yacht, Sea Belle II. to the recently formed Singa- pore Royal Naval Volunteer Re-
serves.
The" Cornflower has a total dis- placement tonnage of 1,250 tons and is 267.9 feet in length (over- all). She has a beam (extreme) of 33.6 feet and a draught of 12.10 feet.
