Commodity Index Asia Landa, Limited, has received the following report from their New York correspondents, E. A. Pierce & Co. Bentiment is a little bottlar because hopes are expressed of satisfactory outcome of the labour dispute. There- is no other news, except that the opinion is expressed that, possibly within. the next few days, we shall see a definite crisis in the Gold Countries of Europe, meaning, perhaps, the abandonment of the Gold Standard; how ever, as yet there has been nothing definite in this connection.
Whest: the local market is narrow following the action of securities. The Beshte Finance Committee's recommendation reducing the tax from tive cents to one cent is most encouraging.
Cotton: The market is featureless Prices backed and filled within a narrow range, selling being largely due to foreign liquidation.
Silver: Prices opened lower on the lower influence of eagler foreign markets, but later steadied on buying encouraged by reports that the House Banking and Currency Sub-Committee has reported favourably to- the Full Committee on the Goldsborough Monetary Authority Bill, which carries an amendment proving for silver re-monetisation. Business Done: 1,020,000 shares.

Meetings at shareholders Goode. Durrant, and Co., Ltd., on March 29, and D and W. Murray, Ltd., on March 19, are being called for the purpose of ratifying a pro- visional agreement between the two companies to amalgamate that port of the business of, D. and W. Mur- ray, Ltd., which is carried on at Adelaide, South Australis, sad Perth Western Australia, with the business of Goode Durrant, and Co. Ltd., under the title of Goode, Durrant, and Murray, Ltd. The directors are satisfied that if the amalgamation is carried through it will eliminate the keen competition which has hitherto existed between the two companies, enable, great economies to be effected in working, and should enable them to resume the payment of dividenda at earlier date than if they continued ad at present. The reement will not affect three-quarters of the Murray, Ltd., which will be carried present busines of D. and W.. on as heretofore in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Launceston. Goode, Durrant has an issued capital of £10,250, and D. and W.. Murray in capitalised at £1,450,000.
