NITRATE AGREEMENT.

BERLIN, August 12 The nitrate agroement between re-
of presentatives the European synthetic nitrate industries and the Chilena industries has been conclud- ed provisionally for a year, during which time negotiations will be con- tinued with a view to prolonging the contract
The agreement provides for the cutting down of production in various countries to actual require ments and eliminating competition.
The Convention comprises 93 pår cert, of the European producers and the Chilean nitrate industry. It will control 60 per cent. of the world's production.
A fund is being established to compensate" anembers of the Conven-" tion suffering losses by the curtail ment of production.
The agreement also provides that prices will not fic increased above the prices of last year.
