ROYAL PARTY'S KEEN ENJOYMENT,”

LONDON, June 96th. The King and Queen and Prin- ceas Mary attended the gala per formance at the International Horse Show, Olympia, W., yester-

day afternoon. They stayed two and a half hours, and obviously enjoyed every moment.

This provides food for thought, Last year Tientsin beat Shanghai on their own courts, and they have repeated their success on their

The ex-championship's opinions very encouraging to Hong Kong Ng Sio Kwong's experience in the game extends over a very wide area in the Far East and he has met with both success" and defeat in many places, so that his judgment can be received with confidence. Hong Kong has not had

an opportunity of matching her best players against those of Shanghai and Tiantain and the year's Inter- port has been duly decided. What would happen, if Hong Kong bad a chance? It would be difficult to say, but there are many who seem to agree with the ex-champion, ***

Endeavours have just been made to stage an Interport locally. Invita- tions have been sent to Shanghai and Tintain to engage Hong Kong in a series of matches here at the and

of next May. Such an announcement is particularly plea sant, and it is hoped that something will materialise. It would bring about a competition among the best players in China, as Shanghai, Tientsin and Hong Kong acknowledged to possess the best players in the Far East. In cidentally, if official sanction could be obtained from the respective Lawn Tennis Associations, an open Championship of China might be staged for the first time.

Hong Kong would have an ex- gent opportunity of doing well In the first place, it will be at a time when the local players are at their best, as the Open Championships öf the Colony begin in March and about the middle of May. Selection would be simplified by the per- formances of the different players in the Championship matches and the best qualibed would be avail- able to represent the Colony.

Turning to local competition, Hong Kong had a blank week-end on account of the typhoon. Three League matches have since been de cided in mid-week, the most in- teresting of which was the victory of the Kowloon Cricket Club over the Hong Kong Cricket Club in the "A" Division. The result came as big surprise as the latter have done very well this season. It can, how- ever, be explained by the fact that the losers did not play their usual team. They lost by 11 games. Kowloon are now out of the bottom rung of the League Table..
