Only moderate cargo returns were recorded for the period ending at 9 a.m. yesterday. Both local im- | ports and through freights were lower than the previous day's figures. Thirteen arrivals thirteen departures were entered.

The master of a trading junk| amed Tsci Lam Yau, also appear ed before Commander J. B. The defendant was arrested by Lance-Sergeant Whitby off Shaukiwan on the 3rd instant. He pleaded guilty, and a fine of $ with the alternative of three weeks' hard labour was imposed.
