THE DRAWINGS AND PROSPECTS.

Below will be found the draw for the Open Singles and Open Doubles Championships of the Colony held under the auspices of the Hong Kong Cricket Club. Against the ties, are the respective dates on which they must be played and it is generally agreed that the adop tion of this rule will tend to smoother running of the tournament than hitherto.

The matches start from the Arsti week of March and interest this year promises to be as great as ever. These Championships are the chief attraction of the Annual Lawn Tennis Tournament of the Hong Kong Cricket Club and the struggle for tonours is expected to be keen ly contested to the last.

A few comments here on the prospects of the different competi- tions will not be out of place. Much will certainly depend on how the contentants shape. between now, and the tournament and the forecasts now made are from the current form and reputation of the players.

The meeting on Wednesday night was the quietest of the three, pas. sibly due to fact that peoples' voices had not the staying power, but' also possibly because the speeches reached a higher order of excellence than ever before.

The Progressives put forth their might in the shape of what one of the apposition called the "little Welsh Wizard," T. J. Price, who gave a very eloquent address on the subject of Bolshevism, Socialism, cataclysm and rheumatisma. Many waverers, he converted, to which side vo shall know after the poll, which takes place on Saturday next, at the YMCA from 8 am to 10 p.m.

Trambitzky, Lau Man Kwong, A. B. Raworth, H. D. Rumjahn and H. Akiyama are the pick of those in the second quarter. Raworth is perhaps the most experienced, but he will find a

strong player in Akiyama and a clever opponent in R. D. Rumjahn.

T. Hunda, the champion, appeara in the third quarter and should be: able to enter the semi-final without | difficulty. With him are Horace Lo, J. Cassumbhoy, Col. Russell Brown, E. G. Howard, Yew Man Kit and Ng Sze Cheung, all of whom he ex- pected to beat.

There are a few good players in the last quarter including the Rev. F. P. W. Alexander, M. W. Lo, C. Choa and S. A. Rumjahn-(last year's runner-up).

As far as the drawings are con cerned, the standard in the first and second rounds is expected to be better than last year. In all
