SIR SHOU SON CHOW DISTRIBUTES PRIZES.
NEW BUILDING CAMPAIGN.
Interesting references were made at the distribution of prizes at St. Stephen's College on Saturday, at the close of morning school, to the important plans in hand for the final establishment of the school in more suitable buildings, re- plete with spacious playing fields, etc. The distribution of prizes was carried out by Sir Shou Son Chow.
The Bishop of Victoria (the Right Nev. C. R. Duppuy) presided, and there were also present Dr. B. W. Tso, Mr. Chau Taun Nin, Mr. W. L. Pattonden, Mr. Li Hoi Tung and Professor Lai Chai Hoi.
BISHOP'S SPEECH.
In his address to the students, the BISHOP emphasised the place of a school in a people's life. He said:-
"I feel, that we have reached an im- portant stage in the development of this College and there are a few words I should like to address to you this morn- ing in my capacity as pairon of St. Д few Stephen's Boys' College. "In minutes you will be hearing the annual report reviewing the work of the year. In what I shall say this morning I want to direct your attention not so much to the past as to the future. I want not so much to look back over the twenty three years of the past history (of which you may well be proud) as to look for ward to the days before us

"At present you are passing through transition period and transition periods are always hard. But as you take a long look ahead I am sure you may do so with hope. Schools and col leges should be guides to the life of men; they should add to the life of the world; he miniatures of the world that is to be As I think of the St. Stephen's of the future, I think of a school in which ideals which will be wrought out in life will be formed and here I am reminded of how the author of Tom Brown's School Days' went back to Rugby fifty years after he, himself, had left school, and in his address to the boys began by reciting what the sixth form in his day (Arnold's Sixth) had done in life. I know of no greater inspiration than
that.
TEMPLE OF VISION.
WARDEN'S REPORT.
The WARDEN in presenting his Report for 1020 said: The year 1925 began under favourable auspices. We had 210 scholars in attendance for two terms. ¡A spirit of carnestness pervaded the school which gave hopes of a successful year of study. The esprit de corps was excellent. The several forms were working well. The harmony which is essential to this well-being of any school was very cons- picuous.
Under these auspices a proposal was launched by the Rev. E. K. Quick that we should have a Bazaar to raise funds for our new Building, and the students | took up the proposal very heartily. Each form threws itself with elan into the work of collecting funds and gooda for its own stall'Old boys supported the effort enthusiastically and ran their own stall. Messrs Tang Shin Kin, San Shiag Sam and Li Hol Tung should be specially mentioned in this respect and to then we give our hearty thanks. A Committee was formed under the chairmanship of Rev. Quick and Mr. Chan Cheung Nin as its secretary, and Mr. Li Cho Chor Chi as Assistant Secretary. The staff laboured whole heartedly for the success of the bazaar. The University authorities most kindly allowed us the use of their Hall and other parts of their premises. To all who helped both by contributions of manoy and goods, by their personal efforts, and by attendance at the bazaar the College owed very hearty thanks.
Unfortunately the strike broke out just when the bazaar was about to be opened. Despite the threats of indus- trial strife and even of intimidations
