BRITISH MEDICAL COUNCIL

AND ADVERTISING.

SPECIALIST STRUCK OFF MEDICAL REGISTER.

The General Medical Council recently directed the registrar to remove from the Medical Register the name of Mr. William Lloyd. L.R.C.P., LRCS., 58, Brook-street, W., a nose and throat specialist, as a sequel to a complaint by the British Medical Association"

It was charged against Mr. Lloyd that he sought to obtain patients and to pro- mote his own professional advantage by means of a newspaper article sätitied Hay Fever New Treatment," which was based upon materials supplied by him..

Mr. Lloyd explained that a patient, a distinguished journalist, asked permis sion to incorporate in an article somo in- formation which he had imparted relat. ing to this treatment of hay fever, To that he raised no objection, providing his name was not disclosed. "

It appeared that subsequently his name was disclosed to a few persons who maile inquiries, and, apparently owing to a misunderstanding, his secretary made appointments" for him to see these per-

SODS.

He had no need, he said, to seek pro- fessional advantage by such an article, as his practice ran into many thousands a. year. In so far as he had exceeded the limits of professional etiquettę -£o, apologised to the Council.
