NEW TRANS PACIFIC RECORD, The Canadian Pacific steamer Einpress of 'quents, which sailed from Hongkong: at Boon on Saturday, June 2nd, arrived at Vane uver at 3 pm, on Sumbay, the 17th inst The time taken between Yokohama end Victoria was 202 hutirs, 53 minutes, or day, 10 hours and 3 minutes, thus constituting a new Trans-1 Pacific regard. The Empress of franda maintained an average speed of 20.6 knots per hour armes the Pacific.

Since 1991 Canadian Pacific #teamers have hell the Trans-Pacific record, each new advanced class of steamer setting the record notch higher. The previous record times from Tokohama to Victoria were presa of Axin, April, 1922-8 days. In hours, 32 minutes; Empress of Ritasin May. 1914 days, 18 hours, 31 minutes.

In Juu, 1897, the Empress of Japan established a record of 10 days, 9 hours. Yokohama to Vancouver. A wonderful speed for those days and high even for to-day, but her performance has been out- classed by the Intest addition, to the Canadian Pacife feet.

Even biter recopil rany confidently be expected of the Empen of Canada in the future.
