The New South Wales Seamen's Union has decided that no Chinese or alien Labour shall be employed on the constal and interstate trudo whilst members of the organisation are out of employment.
Mr. Raeburn (secretary to the Sydney branch of the unida) stated yesterday that it, ad eone to the knowledge of the union that a Chinese-owned steamer, with a crew af Chinese aboard, had been engaged in the interstate trade between Newenste nad Port Pirie (8.A.) The steamer had taken a cargo of coal to the South Australian port, and had returned with a cargo "produce.
"We object to this vessel being manned by Chinese be said, "particularly while

hundreds of our members are out of ém- ployment. We will insist on "Australian seamen being placed on such vessels when engaged in the Australian trade."
