AUSTRALIAN PREMIER PASSES: "A GREAT IMPERIAL PATRIOT
SYDNEY, TO-DAY.
MR. JOSEPH ALOYSIUS LYONS, PRIME MINISTER OF AUSTRALIA" SINCE 1932, DIED ON THURSDAY MORNING AFTER A SERIES OF HEART ATTACKS. HE WAS 59 YEARS OLD.
Mr. Lyon's died in the presence of Dame Enid, 'his wife; who scarce- ly left the bedside for two days.
Federal and State Cabinet mem- bers were present at the hospital, and many tears were shed.
Mr. Lyons amazed the doctors by his hard fight for life. He rallied after half a dozen heart seizures, though there was never any hope for his final recovery.
A GREAT PATRIOT Sir Earle Page, Minister of Com merce, broadcast the following tri- bute: "If ever a man can truly be said to have given his life for his country, that man was Mr. Lyons.

The Swiss Federal Council has submitted a further Bill to Par- liament asking for a new credit of 190,000,000 francs to strengthen national defence.-Renter.
The money (says Trans-Ocean) will be used as follows: 18,000,000 francs for increasing armaments;.... 25,000,000 francs for A.R.P., 53,-. 000,000 francs for new fortifica- tions, 10,000,000 for ammunition reserves and 17,000,000 for in- creasing reserve equipment and raw materials.
