DEMONSTRATIONS IN TIRANA AS PRELUDE TO ITALIAN INVASION

In
Demonstrations against possible Italian action in Albania continued all day on Thursday. Parliament it was declared that the Italian de- mands are unacceptable to Albania.
The appearance in the afternoon of 29 Italian aero- planes over the capital caused a great demon- stration by the population in front of Parlia- ment buildings, the Royal Palace and the for- eign Legations.
The demonstrators declared that Italian troops would only occupy the country "over our dead bodies."
Some 26,000 Albanian troops have been mobilised.-Reuter.

The Albanian Legation here has issued a communique emphasising Albania's intention never to agree to alienate her independence or to allow foreign troops to disembark.
NO AUTHORITY
The communique says that the Italo-Albanian defensive-alliance of 1927 in no way authoritises Italy to intervene for maintenance of or- der in Albania.
Therefore there is nothing to arouse belief of any change of atti- tude by Italy.-Reuter.

The Spanish. Ambassador's visit is said to have been connected with the French inquiry into the landing- of fresh Italian troops in Spain, while the Polish envoy's visit was concerned with the negotiations between Britain and France and Poland.
The Rumanian Ambassador also called on M. Bonnet to discuss the London talks and also the coming visit of the Rumanian Foreign Minister to Paris.
