DEMONSTRATIONS IN TIRANA AS PRELUDE TO ITALIAN INVASION

Tirana, To-day.

In

Demonstrations against possible Italian action in Albania continued all day on Thursday. Parliament it was declared that the Italian de- mands are unacceptable to Albania.

The appearance in the afternoon of 29 Italian aero- planes over the capital caused a great demon- stration by the population in front of Parlia- ment buildings, the Royal Palace and the for- eign Legations.

The demonstrators declared that Italian troops would only occupy the country "over our dead bodies."

Some 26,000 Albanian troops have been mobilised.-Reuter.

The Albanian Legation here has issued a communique emphasising Albania's intention never to agree to alienate her independence or to allow foreign troops to disembark.

NO AUTHORITY

The communique says that the Italo-Albanian defensive-alliance of 1927 in no way authoritises Italy to intervene for maintenance of or- der in Albania.

Therefore there is nothing to arouse belief of any change of atti- tude by Italy.-Reuter.
